Baking with rapeseed oil

Bake off is back. We’re long term fans of The Great British Bake Off and as we settled down with a cuppa to watch the first episode of series 13 last night, we wondered is there ever going to be a “baking with oil” week?

You could argue that “vegan week” or “free from week” ticks that box but you know us ,we like to feel special. So if anyone out there knows Prue Leith or Paul Hollywood please let them know that littleseed are waiting very patiently for “oil week” to arrive on Bake Off.

Butter vs rapeseed oil

Tradionally nearly all cake recipes called for butter but now people are actively searching out cake recipes using rapeseed oil. How do we know? Because it’s one of the most popular searches that brings people to our website. You guys can’t get enough of our cake and biscuit recipes using littleseed cold pressed British rapeseed oil.

What are the benefits of using rapeseed oil in your baking?

Most importantly it’s a health thing! We are so often asked if rapeseed oil is healthier than other fats and oils. Rapeseed Oil contains only half the saturated fat and 11 times the Omega 3 of olive oil. Omega oils are what are known as the healthy oils.

Butter has around 7 times the amount of saturated fat of rapeseed oil.

The NHS website tells us “Eating too much saturated fats in your diet can raise "bad" LDL cholesterol in your blood, which can increase the risk of heart disease and stroke.”
