Working towards a sustainable future

Make little changes

With all that’s happening in the world right now, we all need to act and make changes to the way we live. You’ll be surprised how big the little things matter…

Here at littleseed we believe the little things make a big impact! We wanted to share with you some of the things we do to make a difference and how you can make a difference too.

Switch to cooking with cold pressed rapeseed oil

We are proud to be British farmers, so our products are made right here in the UK. Making the simple switch to cold pressed British Rapeseed Oil means less food miles, so there’s no shipping across the world. Buying British also means you are supporting farmers. The UK food and farming industry makes a fundamental contribution to our economy, providing millions of jobs and supporting rural and urban communities up and down the country. British agriculture as an industry is working hard to find more sustainable ways of growing and producing, and buying British can make such a difference.

Cold pressed for natural goodness

When we make our rapeseed oil, we don’t waste anything! We press all those littleseeds to get the nutritious oil, and we could press the seeds again, BUT we don’t. Not pressing again means you get extra virgin rapeseed oil from us (the best bit which is full of nutrients and minerals!). The pressed seed then goes for animal feed, the ‘rape meal’ or ‘cake’ as the pressed seeds are known as, are still full of goodness and nutrition for animals and means nothing at all gets wasted.

Regenerative farming

Here on our own farm we try and make as many sustainable decisions as possible. We have solar panels on some of our barn roof tops, and recycle all of our glass, cardboard and plastic. We’re making the switch to more regenerative farming practices to make the soil we farm healthier and better for future generations. There will always be more we can do, we are working hard to improve every day.

Little things you can do…

-        Recycle or reuse our glass bottles

-        Cook using seasonal ingredients to cut down food miles

-        Buy locally and support local. Choose businesses who give back to the community

-        Waste not, want not, be sure to pack it up in your pack up for delicious leftover love!

-        Teach the next generation - making sustainable living the norm

The more we teach the next generation about our planet, how to look after it and where our food comes from, the more knowledge they have, to live a more sustainable future.
