Together, the little things in life can add up to make big changes. Here’s some suggestions of a few small ways you can get started.

• When shopping think about how many miles that product has had to travel to get there, products manufactured or grown closer to home often have a smaller carbon footprint.

• Think about the amount of packaging the product comes in, buying in bulk is a good idea as there’s less packaging to hold more product. Is the packaging recyclable?

• Think about what’s in season here in the UK, it’ll not only taste better but also be supporting British growers and makers.

• Waste less. Only cook what you’re going to eat or eat everything you make, we are so lucky in the UK to have access to so much food, so let’s not waste it!

• Batch cook, if it’s hard to cook a smaller amount, why not batch cook and freeze portions.
